What do you do when you change your focus?

Focusing on what is important and what needs to be accomplished can be challenging. However, what happens when you decide to change your focus?

How many times have you set out to do something great but then life happens, unforeseen problems, children, and family and suddenly the great thing you wanted to do suddenly is not your focus.

How do you get that focus back?  Where do you start?

First, you have to be resolved to stay focused! Just because you made the decision to accomplish something doesn’t mean life will stop so that you can get it done.

Life doesn’t stop because you decided to become focused on your goals and accomplishing your dreams! This is a crucial moment – staying focus is vital to your success!

Here a few key points to remember!

  • Focus requires discipline and it is the bridge between focus and accomplishments.
  • Focus is when your mind, will and emotions are in alignment for the task.
  • Focus is Power

Are You A Worker Or Are You A Leader?

11/4/2013

I am a firm believer that there are two types of  worker mentalities in the workplace. One is the  worker and one is the leader.

A worker will show up every day and work their designated hours, seek nothing  more from their place of employment, and may often complain about the work load.  A leader shows up looking for ways for advancement, offer fewer excuses
and generally the leader is not part of the crowd.

A worker will sometimes complain about the tasks  that needs to be completed, the work that is required and the
management staff. The complaining worker  has to have an audience around  when voicing their opinion and often is
inclined to tell management on how to run the organization differently  and more effectively.

The leader will meet and exceed the expectations  of their position, look for  other ways to be a team player, and understands that to carry out something different you have  to be do something  different.

The difference begins in the response.

Ask yourself: Are you a worker? Or are you a leader?

The answer to this question will decide if you are an entrepreneur,  a business  owner, or a nonprofit leader.

It is my belief that if you are a complainer at work you will not service your customers  properly!  Your focus will not be that the customer is always right,  nor will it be focused on providing the best possible service. It will instead
be focused on the amount of work you will have to do for just one client, or  focusing on the reasons why you make not like the client instead of  providing them a great service.

There is absolutely no problem with being a worker however, ask yourself if  you can affectively service your customer and or community with a workers  attitude?

Today, I want you to keep track of your responses to those around you at  work. Are you part of the crowd?  What does your speech say about you?

 Until tomorrow…

Paying the Cost to Be the Boss

9/29/2013

How many have heard that phrase and wondered what it meant?

It is a wonderful dream to be your own boss. How many of you  have day dreamed about no longer having to listen to someone else give you  orders on how they like things done,  make coffee for someone, sit through boring meetings, or commute to  work?

I know some of us, me included, always thought we could do a  better job than our supervisor or manager? Especially when they made stupid  mistakes or took too long to make a decision –but as employees we had all the
answers. Right?

NOT REALLY…..

Actually, being your own boss is harder and requires more work  than working for someone else.

There is a price to be paid when it comes to being the boss. The  cost is often your sleep, your time, and sometimes making the wrong decision.  When you are the boss, owner, manager, CEO you are the final decision maker.
Every decision that you make affects your business IMMEDIATELY!

I have had days like that when I simply have to say “ I am  paying the cost to be the boss.”

It means living with a life altering decision for your business  that will affect your family or finances, it means having others look to you  constantly for the answer and to make that ‘right now’  decision.

Suddenly the tables have turned and you are the leader.  So what do you do when you find  yourself paying the cost to be the boss?

1.     Stop  and think about the decision you are going to make. Is it going to affect your  business now or later?
2.     Do  you have to make the decision now?
3.     Who is the going to effect? Who is involved?
4.     Research  and make sure you have all the necessary information  first
5.     When  in doubt- seek someone else out. There is nothing wrong with asking for advice  from a mentor or trusted  advisor.

Consultants or business coaches, often fall under the category  of trusted advisor or mentor. It is my job to help you navigate through some of  those decision making process. Having a consultant around provides you with a  level of confidence that someone else has been where you are and understands the  frustrations you are facing.

Contact Waddell Consulting Services  today for your FREE 30 MINUTE CONSULTATION!

Use this time to ask questions that you or a group of friends  may not know the answer to, or if you need an idea on how to get  started!

I look forward to being speaking with you and helping you along  your journey.

What Are The Differences Between Non Profit and For Profit?

8/13/2013

The difference between the two really depends on the scope of services that  you want to offer and how you want to offer them.  I am going to make this as  SIMPLE as possible!

Nonprofit does not earn money (profits) for its owners.  ALL MONEY (profit)  earned by or donated to the organization MUST be used in pursing the  organization’s objectives. A nonprofit usually provides a public service.

An important thing to remember about nonprofit organizations is that no one  can guarantee you grant money unless they are the ones actually giving you the  money. A very SIMPLE example of how it works is this:

1. Find a grant
2. Following the instructions and do exactly what the  grantees is asking for
3. Submit your documentation
4. WAIT on a  response

That’s it! The final decision is up to the grantor! No one can promise you  that your grant proposal will be approved. I made that mistake and spent well  over $1500.00 for a packet and at the end of the program I was left with a stack
of paper and no grant money.

IF you want your nonprofit to solely depend on  grant money you will need someone FULLTIME to research for grants it is not just  a one-time thing!

Establishing a nonprofit will take a great deal of detail worked and being  very descriptive on the services that you want to offer to your community. There  are fees associated with creating a nonprofit; the fee amount depends on the
state that you live in.

For profit business is just the opposite. If you want to be a sole  entrepreneur then you are finished with establishing your business. What does  that mean, it means that you have chosen not to incorporate, form a partnership,  or become a LLC. You have chosen to be your only employee! Can you change this  status after your business has grown absolutely!

Once you change the status of your for profit organization there are fees  associated with filing the necessary documents.

These are just some very basic difference between a nonprofit and for profit  organizations.

How many have us have said any of the following? :

·         I want everything to be perfect

·         I am a perfectionist and if it’s not perfect then I can’t do it?

·         I need to have everything done before I ask someone to help me

Often times, using the statements above is just an excuse for not accomplish something, it is a fear of actually having to do something and then to be criticized for what you have done.

I can absolutely guarantee you that you will never start! Perfect, when you’re starting a business or a nonprofit, does not exist.

Whenever we start something we have to be open to making mistakes and accepting that things may be less perfect. The important part is just STARTING!

Waddell Consulting Services can help you get started and understand that you can achieve goals on your way to perfect.

What If I have NO Money?

8/6/2013

Great questions and I am glad you asked! There is so much you need to do first before you actually need money! The majority of it will be sweat equity!

Let me explain it like this when you look at your local grocery store what do you see? The groceries? The cashiers, the signs etc. . . . What you don’t see is the work that has happened behind the scenes to make all of that possible. The same is true for you as a new business owner or someone who wants to start a nonprofit.

First, thing you need to do is decide what you want to do; remember the list I asked that you create? Once you have decided what you want to do with your passion.  Now  you’re ready for another ACTION STEP!

Second, is deciding what type of business entity is best for you; for profit or not for profit (nonprofit). Which one is better suited to provide your service to your potential customer?

Next, is gathering the necessary information together to create your vision and dream and make it a reality!

The entire process, depending on how committed you are to achieving your goal could take 6 to 12 months.

Sounds simple enough?

I will share a very valuable lesson with you:

Yes it is simple enough; I have it in three easy steps HOWEVER, you must stay dedicated, motivated and focused on your end goal.  CONSISTENCY IS CRITICAL!

Now you are telling yourself I can do that ! ABSOLUTELY you can. So what do you need Waddell Consulting Services for?

You need Waddell Consulting Services for those times when you can’t find the answer, when your resolve to continue is zero or when you are simply lost and confused among the paperwork and what steps really do come next.

It never hurts to ask and have a trusted advisor on your side when you are making serious life decisions.

Contact Waddell Consulting Services today for your FREE 30 MINUTE CONSULTATION and let me give some clarity and ease for you along your journey of becoming the best business owner and community outreach program!

Working Nine to Midnight

8/2/2013

Alright so you have made the leap and decide that you are  officially going to become a business owner.  Now that the idea is a reality what do you do now?   WORK and more WORK!!!

I want to make sure that you understand the amount of work that  it will take to achieve your dream!

There will be long hours and sacrifices to be made. Once you are  committed to making your dreams a reality it is no longer work!

Here are a couple questions for  you:

How hard do you work for your current employer?
How dedicated are you to that organizations mission and vision?
Do you often work long hours?
Does your pay equal the work that you  do?

WHY NOT WORK THAT HARD FOR YOURSELF!

Simple enough right? Unfortunately, many will never work harder  for themselves than they do for their employer.  I suggest committing at least; in the beginning, one hour three times a week to working on your business.

Why this length of time? Because it’s not overwhelming and if  you’re dedicated you will increase it on your own.

Working for yourself means when you’re tired you work,  when you’re sleepy you work, when
you want a vacation you still work.

Let Waddell Consulting Services help you by first taking a look  at your idea, second, let WCS help you understand what is realistic for
you to  accomplish and last be that support system that you need when you have more  questions than answers.

SHOW ME THE MONEY

7/31/2013

Entrepreneurship is an amazing thing. It is time consuming, requires dedication and sacrifice AND it requires money!

First, let me start by just stating some obvious  facts:

 ·     You  cannot receive money for a business – IF YOU NEVER SET UP A  BUSINESS
 ·     Money  is NOT going to drop out of the sky into your  lap
 ·     Finding  a grant is HARD work and it doesn’t stop with just one – you have to keep  looking

Now that I have your attention let me explain a few things:   Before you can start making money you do have to have some type of structure in place to receive the money you  want to make.

Would you give money to someone who asked for it but had no proof that they were actually a legal business?

I always get a question that starts out…I want you to find me a grant to open my business. My answer will always be absolutely! However, are you willing to do the work and pay the fees that it cost to set up a non-profit?   If
the answer is YES then we have a great starting point.  If the answer is fees? Work? Then we need to start at the beginning!

REMEMBER:
No one can promise you that they will get receive grant money UNLESS they are actually giving you the money!

If you have been trying to do this on your own and it’s been over a year and still no progress then you need to contact Waddell  Consulting Services!

Let me take a look at what has already been established and give you some direction on where you need to go. OR if you just have the ideas and the thought of not having  money has stopped you from going any further…

Well I am here to tell you NONE  of those things will help you accomplish your dreams and most of all you will
NEVER be in business for yourself!!
