Response to Questions

Thank you to everyone that emailed your questions in! I greatly  appreciate it. I thought I  would share some of the questions that I received the names have been omitted!

Do you really have experience helping people start their own business?

Yes! I have helped friends and families for over 10 years  in some form or fashion understand their passion and turn it into a business or help them set  up a non-profit.

I’m afraid to start my business- exactly what is my first step?

Being afraid is OK it is when you let that fear STOP  YOU- that is NOT  OKAY. The first step is to call for your FREE 30 MINUTE CONSULTATION. Always put  your ideas on paper! It is easier to keep up with and it makes it a reality when
you see it written down.

I just need to find a grant that is going to give me money to fix my house and maybe go back to
school.

Researching for a grant is easy. Applying for a  grant and actually receiving one is NOT EASY. There are a ton
of grants out there that may help you do what you would like to do  HOWEVER; you must do the ground work
FIRST. Meaning you have to be willing to do the work required for the grant.

My friends are always asking for me to “hook them up".

Well if you continue to ‘hook up’ your friends they are the only ones  benefiting from your hard work!  At some point you have ask yourself the  question why are you just giving your information away?

I really want to start something but I don’t have the money and I  have can’t afford to pay someone to help me.

There are things you can do first. For example your business plan, organizing your thoughts  and ideas of how you want to run the business what product or services you are  going to offer. All the while you can be saving for the things that you will need money for  (i.e. licenses, forms, and applications).

These are just a few of the great questions that I received.

I ask that you do just one thing before the day ends….OR before your begin  your day

Take a pen and paper and write down ONE THING that you are going to  DO DIFFERENTLY TODAY THAN YOU DID YESTERDAY! It can be as small or as  big as you choose. For some saying fewer curse words than the day before or
perhaps, not complaining the first 10 minutes you’re at work.

I promise if you do this exercise every day you will start to notice change  in your thinking, your attitude and most of all your ACTIONS!

Paying the Cost to Be the Boss

9/29/2013

How many have heard that phrase and wondered what it meant?

It is a wonderful dream to be your own boss. How many of you  have day dreamed about no longer having to listen to someone else give you  orders on how they like things done,  make coffee for someone, sit through boring meetings, or commute to  work?

I know some of us, me included, always thought we could do a  better job than our supervisor or manager? Especially when they made stupid  mistakes or took too long to make a decision –but as employees we had all the
answers. Right?

NOT REALLY…..

Actually, being your own boss is harder and requires more work  than working for someone else.

There is a price to be paid when it comes to being the boss. The  cost is often your sleep, your time, and sometimes making the wrong decision.  When you are the boss, owner, manager, CEO you are the final decision maker.
Every decision that you make affects your business IMMEDIATELY!

I have had days like that when I simply have to say “ I am  paying the cost to be the boss.”

It means living with a life altering decision for your business  that will affect your family or finances, it means having others look to you  constantly for the answer and to make that ‘right now’  decision.

Suddenly the tables have turned and you are the leader.  So what do you do when you find  yourself paying the cost to be the boss?

1.     Stop  and think about the decision you are going to make. Is it going to affect your  business now or later?
2.     Do  you have to make the decision now?
3.     Who is the going to effect? Who is involved?
4.     Research  and make sure you have all the necessary information  first
5.     When  in doubt- seek someone else out. There is nothing wrong with asking for advice  from a mentor or trusted  advisor.

Consultants or business coaches, often fall under the category  of trusted advisor or mentor. It is my job to help you navigate through some of  those decision making process. Having a consultant around provides you with a  level of confidence that someone else has been where you are and understands the  frustrations you are facing.

Contact Waddell Consulting Services  today for your FREE 30 MINUTE CONSULTATION!

Use this time to ask questions that you or a group of friends  may not know the answer to, or if you need an idea on how to get  started!

I look forward to being speaking with you and helping you along  your journey.

You Say There’re Just a Friend

Remember that song? Of course you do! Friends are awesome! However, when it comes to friends and business sometimes things are NOT that awesome!

Take a look at the following scenario:

You and your friend have talked hours on end about the great business idea that you both have. A decision has to be made on how it is going to look, how everyone’s way life will change and how much better it’s going to be.

There is a BIG difference between being friends and being business partners. If your friend is a procrastinator now, they will be one when you are business together!

If they are too tired from work to work on the business – they will always be too tired.

Some questions to ask you and your potential partner:

1. Who is going to be the final decision maker?
2. Who will actually do the work of the business?
3. Who is in charge of the money and who will handle the finances?
4. What happens when one person is not pulling their weight in the business?

These questions are not meant to break up friendships however; it is a guide to help open discussions on important topics.

If you need help having that difficult conversation schedule your FREE 30 MINUTE CONSULTATION so that I can give you some pointers on how to get started.

REMEMBER YOUR IDEA OF SUCCESS AND COMMITMENT IS NOT THE SAME AS EVERYONE ELSE
