How many of us have ready the opening of a blog, email or envelope that promises you that in 30 days we can be wealthy and have our own business?
I know I have read one just yesterday! So here is the deal- it is not going to happen in 30 days. Making your dreams a reality is going to take work, focus, work, concentration and did I mention WORK !!!! This how it works, you have a great idea and you want to make it into a business, or turn a profit on it, or you want to start a nonprofit so that you can help other people. Great!! Now it is time to put all those ideas on paper and really decide what direction you want to go in. Ideas are great- but until they become reality- they are just ideas. You have to want your dream or idea so bad that it is all you want to work on or think about and talk about. You will not mind putting in the work that is required. If you find yourself making excuses as to why you can’t work on your business then you may not be ready to make your dream a reality. When you’re truly ready- you will make no excuses- you will find answers! Thank you to everyone that emailed your questions in! I greatly appreciate it. I thought I would share some of the questions that I received the names have been omitted!
Do you really have experience helping people start their own business? Yes! I have helped friends and families for over 10 years in some form or fashion understand their passion and turn it into a business or help them set up a non-profit. I’m afraid to start my business- exactly what is my first step? Being afraid is OK it is when you let that fear STOP YOU- that is NOT OKAY. The first step is to call for your FREE 30 MINUTE CONSULTATION. Always put your ideas on paper! It is easier to keep up with and it makes it a reality when you see it written down. I just need to find a grant that is going to give me money to fix my house and maybe go back to school. Researching for a grant is easy. Applying for a grant and actually receiving one is NOT EASY. There are a ton of grants out there that may help you do what you would like to do HOWEVER; you must do the ground work FIRST. Meaning you have to be willing to do the work required for the grant. My friends are always asking for me to “hook them up". Well if you continue to ‘hook up’ your friends they are the only ones benefiting from your hard work! At some point you have ask yourself the question why are you just giving your information away? I really want to start something but I don’t have the money and I have can’t afford to pay someone to help me. There are things you can do first. For example your business plan, organizing your thoughts and ideas of how you want to run the business what product or services you are going to offer. All the while you can be saving for the things that you will need money for (i.e. licenses, forms, and applications). These are just a few of the great questions that I received. I ask that you do just one thing before the day ends….OR before your begin your day Take a pen and paper and write down ONE THING that you are going to DO DIFFERENTLY TODAY THAN YOU DID YESTERDAY! It can be as small or as big as you choose. For some saying fewer curse words than the day before or perhaps, not complaining the first 10 minutes you’re at work. I promise if you do this exercise every day you will start to notice change in your thinking, your attitude and most of all your ACTIONS! Book your FREE 30 MINUTE CONSULTATION TODAY OR CALL 404-590-8174 Today is just for you at Waddell Consulting Services! Today you get to ask any question!
I will give you a couple of examples of my most popular questions:
These are all valid questions! Please leave your comments below I am excited about reading your questions. Or if you prefer email me at Janmetra@waddellconsult.com Or CALL AT 404-590-8174. I will be responses in a separate blog! Remember to visit www.waddellconsult.com for more information. How many have heard that phrase and wondered what it meant?
It is a wonderful dream to be your own boss. How many of you have day dreamed about no longer having to listen to someone else give you orders on how they like things done, make coffee for someone, sit through boring meetings, or commute to work? I know some of us, me included, always thought we could do a better job than our supervisor or manager? Especially when they made stupid mistakes or took too long to make a decision –but as employees we had all the answers. Right? NOT REALLY….. Actually, being your own boss is harder and requires more work than working for someone else. There is a price to be paid when it comes to being the boss. The cost is often your sleep, your time, and sometimes making the wrong decision. When you are the boss, owner, manager, CEO you are the final decision maker. Every decision that you make affects your business IMMEDIATELY! I have had days like that when I simply have to say “ I am paying the cost to be the boss.” It means living with a life altering decision for your business that will affect your family or finances, it means having others look to you constantly for the answer and to make that ‘right now’ decision. Suddenly the tables have turned and you are the leader. So what do you do when you find yourself paying the cost to be the boss? 1. Stop and think about the decision you are going to make. Is it going to affect your business now or later? 2. Do you have to make the decision now? 3. Who is the going to effect? Who is involved? 4. Research and make sure you have all the necessary information first 5. When in doubt- seek someone else out. There is nothing wrong with asking for advice from a mentor or trusted advisor. Consultants or business coaches, often fall under the category of trusted advisor or mentor. It is my job to help you navigate through some of those decision making process. Having a consultant around provides you with a level of confidence that someone else has been where you are and understands the frustrations you are facing. Contact Waddell Consulting Services today for your FREE 30 MINUTE CONSULTATION! Use this time to ask questions that you or a group of friends may not know the answer to, or if you need an idea on how to get started! I look forward to being speaking with you and helping you along your journey. This question is so important that everything that you do from this moment on will hinge on it! Do you believe?
Do you believe that you can start a business? Do you believe that you can be better than what you are now? Do you believe in yourself? Ultimately this answer determines the rest of your life! You have to believe in what you are doing before anybody else can. This means when feel like giving up, you keep going. When you have no idea which way to go, you keep going! I will share a personally story. I am a Domestic Violence survivor. I could not find one attorney in the city I was living in to represent me. Everyone said no, and told me good luck on finding someone who will take your case. After about a month of hearing no, I decided that I would JUST DO IT myself! I printed and learned the laws on Domestic Violence and what I needed to do and I represented myself in court-complete with documentation and findings. I simply BELIEVED IN MYSELF! When you believe in yourself others may not understand and some may not take the journey with you. It is at that point that you must BELIEVE IN YOURSELF ! I understand the frustration of not knowing or perhaps starting to doubt yourself and your dream! I’m here to tell you that I BELIEVE IN YOU! It cost nothing to schedule your appointment for your FREE CONSULTATION. It may be the very thing you need to renew your dream, your passion and to recharge and say I BELIEVE! WWW.WADDELLCONSULT.COM janmetra@waddellconsult.com Is now the right time to open the business that you want? Honestly, we all want to have our own business and be financially stable immediately. However, as entrepreneurs we have to consider what the current market looks like for that particular business.
For example, when the housing market crashed, that may not have been the best time to become a realtor. Research what others are doing in your field. Who will be your competition? As an entrepreneur you have to think about every aspect of a business because you are now no longer an employee but a business owner. Evaluating your surroundings is critical to your success.
Taking the time to evaluate your surroundings will be beneficial in the long run. It will help you develop a great marketing plan and it will position you better for understanding your business. You will get the answers to the following questions:
Answers to these questions will help decide your future as a business owner. I urge you to take time to think about your future business endeavors and evaluate your surroundings. Today’s topic is courteous of Christopher Gee, Owner of FHIR a Non-Profit Organization in Charlotte, NC. You think you’re ready? You’ve been doing this for a while and perhaps you have paying customers and things are going
great. Before you JUMP into your business FULL TIME let’s look at some of the questions 1. How much are you making as a percentage of your day job? 2. How is the income trending from your small business? Is it a steady income or sporadic? Deciding when to quit your day job is a serious decision and there any many factors that need to be considered before you make that JUMP. One of the things to look at is how much are you making as a percentage of your day job? For example do you make $60,000 (yr.) at your present employment and income from your business is equal to $30,000 a year? This would require a serious life style change and a big sacrifice. Or perhaps you make $35,000 a year and the income from your business is $40,000. It would seem as if everything would be great. Here are some more questions for you BEFORE you tell your company exactly what you think: 1. Are you customers regular? And dependable? 2. Is your income residual? Meaning if you’re not actively selling something will you still have income from your product or service? 3. Will you be able to pay your bills from your business? If you can answer YES to all of these questions- CONGRATULATIONS you are on your way. However, if you are like most startups your customer base is not solid just yet; at best you have a few clients perhaps every 6 to 8 months. Starting your own business of nonprofit can be an extremely exciting time nonetheless; you want to be careful about how soon you quit your day job to pursue your business full time. I love to share information and make sure everyone can make an informed decision. If you are just not sure where to go from here or if you are wondering exactly what do I need to do about those sporadic clients- contact Waddell Consulting Services today for your FREE 30 MINUTE CONSULTATION. Remember that song? Of course you do! Friends are awesome! However, when it comes to friends and business sometimes things are NOT that awesome!
Take a look at the following scenario: You and your friend have talked hours on end about the great business idea that you both have. A decision has to be made on how it is going to look, how everyone’s way life will change and how much better it’s going to be. There is a BIG difference between being friends and being business partners. If your friend is a procrastinator now, they will be one when you are business together! If they are too tired from work to work on the business – they will always be too tired. Some questions to ask you and your potential partner: 1. Who is going to be the final decision maker? 2. Who will actually do the work of the business? 3. Who is in charge of the money and who will handle the finances? 4. What happens when one person is not pulling their weight in the business? These questions are not meant to break up friendships however; it is a guide to help open discussions on important topics. If you need help having that difficult conversation schedule your FREE 30 MINUTE CONSULTATION so that I can give you some pointers on how to get started.
