Do You Believe?

8/28/2013

This question is so important that everything that you do from this moment on  will hinge on it! Do you believe?
Do you believe that you can start a business? Do  you believe that you can be  better than what you are now? Do you believe in yourself?

Ultimately this answer determines the  rest of your life!

You have to believe in what you are doing before anybody else can. This means  when feel like giving up, you keep going. When you have no idea which way to go,  you keep going!

I will share a personally story. I am a Domestic Violence survivor. I could not find one  attorney in the city I was living in to represent me. Everyone said no, and told  me good luck on finding someone who will take your case. After about a month of  hearing no, I decided that I would JUST DO IT myself!

I printed and learned the laws on Domestic Violence and what I needed to do  and I represented myself in court-complete with documentation and findings.

 I simply BELIEVED IN MYSELF!

When you believe in yourself others may not understand and some may not take  the journey with you. It is at that point that you must BELIEVE IN  YOURSELF !

I understand the frustration of  not knowing or  perhaps  starting to doubt yourself and your dream!   I’m here to
tell you that I BELIEVE IN YOU!

It cost nothing to schedule your appointment for your FREE CONSULTATION.

It may  be the very thing you need to renew your dream, your  passion and to recharge and say I  BELIEVE!

Evaluate Your Surroundings

8/24/2013

Is now the right time to open the business that you want? Honestly, we all  want to have our own business and be financially stable immediately. However, as  entrepreneurs we have to consider what the  current market looks like for that particular business.

For example, when the housing market crashed, that may not have  been the best time to become a realtor.

Research what others are doing in your field. Who will be your competition?  As an entrepreneur you have to think about every aspect of a business because  you are now no longer an employee but a business owner. Evaluating your surroundings is  critical to your success.
  • Where will your business be located? (If you are providing a product)
  • Are there other businesses like yours in the same area?
  • Are your customers near you?
  • Do people want the service/product that you have?

Taking the time to evaluate your surroundings will be beneficial in the long  run. It will help you develop a great marketing  plan and it will position you better for understanding your  business. You will get the answers to the following questions:
  • Is the market ready for a business like yours?
  • How many competitors will you have?
  • Can you afford to compete with your competition?

Answers to these questions will help decide your future as a business owner.  I urge you to take time to think about your future business endeavors and  evaluate your surroundings.

Evaluating your surroundings also means using your resources. Contact  Waddell Consulting Services today to
schedule your FREE 30  MINUTE CONSULTATION.

Today’s topic is courteous of Christopher Gee, Owner of FHIR a  Non-Profit Organization in Charlotte, NC.

JUMP, JUMP … Wait Don’t Quit Your Day Job

8/21/2013

You think you’re ready? You’ve been doing this for a while and perhaps you have paying customers and things are going
great.  Before you JUMP into your business FULL TIME let’s look at some of the questions

1.      How much are you making as a percentage of your day job?
2.      How is the income trending from your  small business? Is it a steady income or sporadic?

Deciding when to quit your day job is a serious decision and  there any many factors that need to be considered before you make that JUMP.

One of the things to look at is how much are you making as a  percentage of your day job? For example do you make $60,000 (yr.) at your  present employment and income from your business is equal to $30,000 a year?
This would require a serious life  style change and a big sacrifice. Or perhaps you make $35,000 a year and the
income from your business is $40,000. It would seem as if everything would be  great.

Here are some more questions for you BEFORE you tell your  company exactly what you think:

 1.     Are  you customers regular? And dependable?
2.     Is  your income residual? Meaning if you’re not actively selling something will you still have income from your product or  service?
3.      Will  you be able to pay your bills from your  business?

If you can answer YES to all of these questions- CONGRATULATIONS  you are on your way.

However, if you are like most startups your customer base is not  solid just yet; at best you have a few clients perhaps every 6 to 8   months.

Starting your own business of nonprofit can be an extremely  exciting time nonetheless; you want to be careful about how soon you quit your  day job to pursue your business full time.

I love to share information and make sure everyone can make an  informed decision. If you are just not sure where to go from here or if you are  wondering exactly what do I need to do about those sporadic clients- contact
Waddell Consulting Services today for your FREE 30 MINUTE  CONSULTATION.

What Are The Differences Between Non Profit and For Profit?

8/13/2013

The difference between the two really depends on the scope of services that  you want to offer and how you want to offer them.  I am going to make this as  SIMPLE as possible!

Nonprofit does not earn money (profits) for its owners.  ALL MONEY (profit)  earned by or donated to the organization MUST be used in pursing the  organization’s objectives. A nonprofit usually provides a public service.

An important thing to remember about nonprofit organizations is that no one  can guarantee you grant money unless they are the ones actually giving you the  money. A very SIMPLE example of how it works is this:

1. Find a grant
2. Following the instructions and do exactly what the  grantees is asking for
3. Submit your documentation
4. WAIT on a  response

That’s it! The final decision is up to the grantor! No one can promise you  that your grant proposal will be approved. I made that mistake and spent well  over $1500.00 for a packet and at the end of the program I was left with a stack
of paper and no grant money.

IF you want your nonprofit to solely depend on  grant money you will need someone FULLTIME to research for grants it is not just  a one-time thing!

Establishing a nonprofit will take a great deal of detail worked and being  very descriptive on the services that you want to offer to your community. There  are fees associated with creating a nonprofit; the fee amount depends on the
state that you live in.

For profit business is just the opposite. If you want to be a sole  entrepreneur then you are finished with establishing your business. What does  that mean, it means that you have chosen not to incorporate, form a partnership,  or become a LLC. You have chosen to be your only employee! Can you change this  status after your business has grown absolutely!

Once you change the status of your for profit organization there are fees  associated with filing the necessary documents.

These are just some very basic difference between a nonprofit and for profit  organizations.

You Say There’re Just a Friend

8/13/2013

Remember that song? Of course you do! Friends are awesome! However, when it comes to friends and business sometimes things are NOT that awesome!

Take a look at the following scenario:

You and your friend have talked hours on end about the great business idea that you both have. A decision has to be made on how it is going to look, how everyone’s way life will change and how much better it’s going to be.

There is a BIG difference between being friends and being business partners. If your friend is a procrastinator now, they will be one when you are business together!

If they are too tired from work to work on the business – they will always be too tired.

Some questions to ask you and your potential partner:

1. Who is going to be the final decision maker?
2. Who will actually do the work of the business?
3. Who is in charge of the money and who will handle the finances?
4. What happens when one person is not pulling their weight in the business?

These questions are not meant to break up friendships however; it is a guide to help open discussions on important topics.

If you need help having that difficult conversation schedule your FREE 30 MINUTE CONSULTATION so that I can give you some pointers on how to get started.

REMEMBER YOUR IDEA OF SUCCESS AND COMMITMENT IS NOT THE SAME AS EVERYONE ELSE

How many have us have said any of the following? :

·         I want everything to be perfect

·         I am a perfectionist and if it’s not perfect then I can’t do it?

·         I need to have everything done before I ask someone to help me

Often times, using the statements above is just an excuse for not accomplish something, it is a fear of actually having to do something and then to be criticized for what you have done.

I can absolutely guarantee you that you will never start! Perfect, when you’re starting a business or a nonprofit, does not exist.

Whenever we start something we have to be open to making mistakes and accepting that things may be less perfect. The important part is just STARTING!

Waddell Consulting Services can help you get started and understand that you can achieve goals on your way to perfect.

Why Do I Need a Business Coach?

8/8/2013

Family, Friend, Co-worker, Neighbors you can use a ton of names but  eventually you will need to ask someone a question and unfortunately the family  and friend sector is NOT going to have the most reliable answer.

Consulting  or business coaching offers you the opportunity to talk with a  professional who can objectively discuss your idea, give you feedback and  suggestions. I have been through the process and I will have answers to your  question.

Coaching allows you to ask any question, give you direction and most of all  you are accountable to someone. Often times, we have great ideas of starting a  business or a nonprofit but when it comes to implementing them, we fall short!

I have been there! I understand the frustration of knowing that you could  truly do something great but being so exhausted that mentally and physically you  don’t have the energy to complete it.

Waddell Consulting  Services can offer that one-on-one session that you need to get  your ideas started. Or perhaps you need someone who will hold you accountable as  well as give that extra push you need to carry out your dreams.

It is my passion and it brings me great joy to watch other people succeed and  to give some helpful information and direction along the way.

I look forward to listening to you and providing the direction and support  you need to get started on making your ideas a reality!

What If I have NO Money?

8/6/2013

Great questions and I am glad you asked! There is so much you need to do first before you actually need money! The majority of it will be sweat equity!

Let me explain it like this when you look at your local grocery store what do you see? The groceries? The cashiers, the signs etc. . . . What you don’t see is the work that has happened behind the scenes to make all of that possible. The same is true for you as a new business owner or someone who wants to start a nonprofit.

First, thing you need to do is decide what you want to do; remember the list I asked that you create? Once you have decided what you want to do with your passion.  Now  you’re ready for another ACTION STEP!

Second, is deciding what type of business entity is best for you; for profit or not for profit (nonprofit). Which one is better suited to provide your service to your potential customer?

Next, is gathering the necessary information together to create your vision and dream and make it a reality!

The entire process, depending on how committed you are to achieving your goal could take 6 to 12 months.

Sounds simple enough?

I will share a very valuable lesson with you:

Yes it is simple enough; I have it in three easy steps HOWEVER, you must stay dedicated, motivated and focused on your end goal.  CONSISTENCY IS CRITICAL!

Now you are telling yourself I can do that ! ABSOLUTELY you can. So what do you need Waddell Consulting Services for?

You need Waddell Consulting Services for those times when you can’t find the answer, when your resolve to continue is zero or when you are simply lost and confused among the paperwork and what steps really do come next.

It never hurts to ask and have a trusted advisor on your side when you are making serious life decisions.

Contact Waddell Consulting Services today for your FREE 30 MINUTE CONSULTATION and let me give some clarity and ease for you along your journey of becoming the best business owner and community outreach program!
